Sewing Groups

We work with a fantastic network of volunteers to sew, assemble and distribute reusable, washable, sustainable period pad kits for our beneficiaries in East Africa.

At Freedom4Girls, we are passionate about promoting sustainability and choice. Our volunteers help create reusable, washable pads that are then donated to our beneficiaries who are most in need. With just one pack of our reusable pads, a young woman is provided with five years’ worth of menstrual protection. This supports her to manage her periods with comfort and confidence and to stay in school.

Our regular sewing workshops are currently held monthly at:

First Saturday of the month

Thackray Medical Museum,
141 Beckett St, Harehills
Leeds LS9 7LN – 1pm-4pm

Last Friday of every month

Nowell Mount Community Centre, Harehills
Leeds, LS9 6JJ – 10am-1pm

Latch Coach House, Chapeltown
Leeds, LS7 4HL – 12pm-3pm

During these sewing sessions we are sewing reusable, washable period packs that will be distributed in Kenya and Uganda alongside quality menstrual health education.

If you would like to come along to any of our upcoming sessions, please pre-register by clicking the link below.

Click here to attend our next sewing workshop at Thackray, or get in touch to let us know if you’d like to join us at the other sessions!

We welcome volunteers of all sewing abilities to get involved with the workshops. They are a fun, relaxing and productive way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Whilst experienced sewers are invaluable, we always have plenty of marking, cutting and kit-assembling tasks for non-sewers!

If you are interested in hosting your own workshop (with our support, of course), contact us for more information.
